Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Welcome to “Called To Be Broken”! First off, here is some information about us! Our mission is to help every single person come to know their true identity as a child of God. We are a blog style ministry that is focused on carrying out this mission. We will be posting articles frequently to our website (calledtobebroken.wixsite.com/home), Instagram and Facebook pages (@calledtobebroken) and our Twitter page (@called2bebroken). These articles will focus on important issues and questions including a variety of topics such as: forgiveness, suffering, humility, love, virtue and more! You may be wondering, “How are the articles chosen?” The articles are chosen based on guidance from the Lord in prayer, suggestions, current events and requests! Visit the “Contact” tab on our website to request topics and submit questions!
You may also be wondering, ‘Why “Called To Be Broken”?’ As humans, we are all broken and inclined to sin; but, that doesn’t define who we are. All too often, we find ourselves rooting our identity in our achievements, appearance, and social status. We are told that we must meet certain requirements to be loved, which often leads us to inauthenticity or being fake. The truth is, we have a Father who freely gives us His love. We don’t need to be fake or perfect for Him to love us. He loves us in our weakness and our brokenness; and, He calls us to freedom and real relationship with Him. Like any good Father, He loves us for who we are, His Children. He calls us to come as we are, brokenness and all, to grow closer to Him and serve Him in all that we do. Yes, our sinful actions are bad, and we should strive to turn away from sin at all times. God loves you just as you are, but He loves you too much to leave you there, meaning, He is always calling us to a closer relationship with Him. We should strive to be saints, but we aren’t called to be “perfect”. We are “Called To Be Broken”. Just as Jesus is broken for us, we are called to be broken for others. We are called to sacrifice our wants and desires to show Christ’s love for our brothers and sisters.
Our brokenness isn’t inherently good, but we are transformed by God the Father through our brokenness. As the Venerable Fulton J. Sheen said:
“Broken things are precious. We eat broken bread because we share in the depth of our Lord and His broken life. Broken flowers give perfume. Broken incense is used in adoration. A broken ship saved Paul and many other passengers on their way to Rome. Sometimes the only way the good Lord can get into some hearts is to break them.”
God, our good Father, can use our weakness and brokenness to bring us, and others to Him. Our brokenness allows us to surrender to Him, go to Him, and let Him into our lives in a new way. You aren’t a burden and you aren’t too far gone. You are a Child of God. Be who you are, knowing God the Father has given you everything. Lay everything down at His feet, knowing He is greater. St. Paul tells us, “About this person I will boast, but about myself I will not boast, except about my weaknesses.” (2 Cor 12:5) Embrace the fact that you are completely reliant on God, and believe it!
There is an identity crisis in our world. People don’t see themselves as children of God; He wants that to change. If you want to come to know the Father’s love for you in a deeper way, learn more about the Faith, grow closer to Christ, come to see yourself and others as God’s beloved children, or just want inspiration, “Called To Be Broken” is for you! You have a Father in Heaven who loves, knows, and cares for you. As we begin this New Year, turn towards Him in a deeper way! We are praying for you!
With Love, your brother in Christ,
Jesse Iamarino
